    Description

    This is a bill-of-landing receipt measuring about 5" by 9 1/2".  It was sent by GEORGE NEWBOLD On a Schooner called REMITTANCE.  The Captain was Issac Treat.  It contained Saddlery.  Saddlery were saddles and equipment for horses.  The Schooner left New York for Savanna Georgia.  It's dated 1804.
    there's a paper that came with the document that says in part, 'GEORGE NEWBOLD WAS A FAMOUS NEW YORK MERCHANT DURING THE COLONIAL PERIOD.  THIS BILL WAS FOR A BOX OF SADDLERY SHIPPED ON THE SCHOONER REMITTANCE.  THE SHIP'S CAPTAIN ENDORESMENT IS ON THE BACK.  GEORGE NEWBOLD WAS ALSO A FRIEND OF THOMAS JEFFERSON".
