Sir Francis Workman Macnaghten Bart
, Son of Edmund Macnaghten, appointed Sheriff of the Town and settlement of Calcutta in 1797, appointed puisne judge of the Supreme Court at Madras in 1809, Knighted in 1815, transferred to Calcutta as Senior Justice of the Supreme Court at Fort William in Bengal, assumed the additional name WORKMAN, retired in 1825, Baronetted in 1836, greatly affected by the death of his second son Sir William Hay Macnaghten Bart who got murdered with a pistol in mouth, by Akber, son on Dost Muhamed, in 1841 in Kabul, and died in 1843 due to the shock.
