    Description

1837 Ship Manifest Bill Lading Brig Algonquin Birmingham to Philadelphia Locks
This is a folded 10” x 16” sheet, blank inside, creating two 10x8 written sides. One side has the April 20, 1837 statement from Robbins and Martin of Birmingham that they are shipping 375 trunk locks to Edson Doughty in Philadelphia. At bottom is embossed seal and red Customs House handstamp from June 1837 noting the ship as the Algonquin. Reverse has docketing information and restates recipient and ship. The Algonquin was lost in February 1843 when wrecked at Beaks Key (Florida). Modest wear, age tone.
