    Description

Beautiful refurbished 1932 Royal 10 typewriter with new feet, feed rollers, and platen.
This particular machine was made towards the end of the production run for the 10, and features a basket shift instead of a carriage shift.  A basket shift is easier to type with, as the entire carriage does not need to be lifted to shift characters.
The Japan black (lacquer) paint, nickel plating, and decals are all very nice. Please note that there are chips/scratches/wear points commiserate with 90 years of careful use.  The pictures speak for themselves. I have not touched up the paint.
Every feature including the tabulator, backspace, ribbon reverse, bell, margin release, and bichrome selection works as it should.  The carriage moves smoothly and freely, as do the keys.  The machine is "tight" and the type is well aligned.  The type sample features an authentic cotton ribbon similar to what would have
    originally
been used in the 1930s.  A nylon ribbon will produce slightly sharper
    characters
, and is a matter of personal
    preference
    .
    Partial overview of refurbishment process:
The typewriter is dissembled to the extent necessary to access the internal mechanisms.  I then clean the entire typewriter, primarily with solvents and compressed air.  Other products (e.g. rubbing alcohol) can cause rust, and don't perform as well.
I use specialized, quality tools that don't damage irreplaceable screws or other delicate parts.  Small adjustments are made as needed.
After the typewriter is clean, and fully working, I apply very small amounts of machine oil in areas (e.g. carriage tracks) that would have been lubricated at the factory.  Any excess is removed with more solvent.
I polish the plated parts and paint, using a museum grade wax as a finisher.  I avoid harsh and readily available automotive waxes.
All rubber parts are replaced at considerable cost.  The feet are new, true to spec reproduction molded rubber.  The platen and rollers are all sent away to be professionally recovered to factory standards.
After the typewriter is sold, I will carefully pack it using new material in an inner and outer box, and ship using UPS.
