    Description

    Up for auction is an antique framed Geburts und Taufschein recently found at auction in Lancaster County PA area.  More of an oil based paint vs hand tinted.  Printed by J. Hartman in Lebanon PA, 1818.  Name Ruben Levy born Feb. 4, 1822 in Lebanon County Pennsylvania.  Heavy staining, tears, rips along the edges.  Fragile.  Frame mid century vintage painted white.  Nice early, uncommon form. Acidic backing.  No wire.  Glass and certificate 13.25x16", frame 1".  Not sure why so dark - perhaps watercolored with coffee or walnut stain that can darken with time vs fade.  Darker than photos even.
