    This is a Lot of 85 Documents of Henry Nettleton Snyder Civil War Vet, Carpetbagger, Politician, Mason. Born May 24, 1831 in Clarkson, NY, graduated in 1855 from Brown University, studied law at university of Albany, served in civil war for the Union as a Captain in Company K 59th Ill. infantry, after war moved to Chattanooga where he became a merchant, was involved with the railroad and the local bank and then got into Tennessee politics by becoming a member of the Tennessee House of Representatives and then moved to D.C. to become an examiner for the U.S. Bureau of Pensions dealing with Civil War Vets. Along the way he joined the Masons in 1857 just after graduating from Brown.
    This lot includes locks of his hair over the years, many of his masonic papers certificates and booklets, menus, invitations, business documents and receipts, Papers from joining a church, Brown University papers, Tennessee House bill no. 385, A very lengthy handwritten document seeking a civil war vet pension for himself listing all of his ailments. He died in 1904. Many of the documents are several pages long. An amazing piece of history.
