    Description

    This is an original indenture dated July 10, 1836 of the 14 year, 10 month old son of Betsy Bickford of Schaghticoke, New York (Rensselaer County) to Christopher Balch.  Administered by Justice of the Peace, Parismus Shreve, Balch agrees to cloth ( new suit of Holy day clothes each year/new bibles) , feed, provide lodging, medicine and education for the son until he is 21 when he will be given the sum of 0.  Witnessed by Levi Nelson.  Condition is very good with markings from sealing wax.
