Description

A great manuscript document from the headquarters of the New Hampshire National Guard dated June 30, 1885 correcting the pay records for one of the units.  It is addressed to Col. Joab Nelson Patterson, a Civil War Officer who who was wounded at the Battle of Gettysburg.  He would be Breveted a Brigadier General of US Volunteers prior to being mustered out in December, 1865.  He would later serve in the Spanish American War.  He was influential in the Grand Army of the Republic, and was elected to the New Hampshire House of representatives.  He served as Second Auditor of the United States Treasury from 1889-1893.  Fold lines, otherwise excellent condition.
