Printed Militia Warrant against Robert Chase for Failure to Appear. Henry Peckham, Town Sergeant. Captain William Cornell, Militia Commander. Middletown, Rhode Island, Newport County. Issued by Middletown Justice of the Peace Joshua Coggeshall, and dated November 7th, 1820.
Printed warrant form, with details completed in ink manuscript. Measuring approximately 6.75 x 7.75 inches.
Signed and sealed, docketed to verso.
From Warrant:
whereas the said
Robert Chase
did not appear at said time and place whereby he hath forfeited the sum of three dollars…   and for want of such Goods and Chattels of the
Robert Chase
to be by you found, you are commanded to take the body of the said
Robert Chase
and him to commit to the Gaol in said Newport And the keeper of said Gaol is hereby required to receive the said
Robert Chase
into said Gaol, and him safely to keep, until he shall pay the sums aforesaid, together with the legal Fees and Costs, or shall be otherwise discharged by order of Law
.
